Questions
How is my IP address detected?
Your public IP is detected by making a request to a public API service. The IP shown is your public-facing IP as seen by external servers, which may differ from your local network IP.
What other information is shown?
In addition to your IP, the tool shows your browser user agent, screen resolution, language, timezone, platform, and connection type (if available through the Network Information API).
Will a VPN affect the IP address shown?
Yes, if you are connected to a VPN, the tool will show the VPN server's IP address rather than your real public IP. This is a quick way to verify your VPN is working correctly.
Does the IP address lookup show my physical location?
The tool shows your public IP and browser metadata. It does not perform geolocation lookups, so your physical address or city is not displayed.
