Questions

What DPI should I use for printing?
300 DPI is the standard for high-quality photo printing. 150 DPI is acceptable for large posters viewed from a distance. 72 DPI is typical for screens and web images.
How do I calculate print size from pixel dimensions?
Divide the pixel dimension by the DPI. For example, a 3000×2000 pixel image at 300 DPI prints at 10×6.67 inches.
How do I find the pixel dimensions needed for a specific print size?
Multiply the desired print dimension in inches by the DPI. For a 5x7 inch print at 300 DPI, you need a 1500x2100 pixel image.
What happens if I print an image at too low a DPI?
Printing below the recommended DPI results in visible pixelation and blurry output. For most prints held at arm's length, stay at or above 150 DPI. For close-up viewing like photo prints, use 300 DPI.
Does this DPI calculator work offline?
Yes. All calculations are performed in your browser. No image data or dimensions are sent to a server.
